The nostrils

Become chimneys

The lungs of the child

Become hot furnace

And the city turns a hell.

Ismail Meladi: Journalist since 1987 (10 years in Delhi, 14 years in UAE and since May 2011 in Qatar). Publishes poems since 1986. Received Arabia Aksharasree Award for Literary Achievements (2005), Sahrudaya Padiyath Award for Poetry (2007). Published books: "Dilli" (2003), "Chintheritta Kaalam" (2011). Poems appeared on many websites, including www.poetry.com, and many anthologies, including "Timeless Mysteries," published by International Library of Poetry, Maryland, USA. Translated two books and many poems from Malayalam to English and stories from English to Malayalam. First Indian to present his poems in Arabic at Emirates Writers' Union. Published numerous poems and articles in Malayalam, English, Arabic, Hindi and Persian. Credited with translating UAE Arab poets, Shihab Ghanem, Ibrahim Al Hashimi and Saliha Ghabish. Worked as director, script writer, narrator and presenter for many TV programmes in Malayalam, English and Hindi. Since May 2011, Media Relations Officer with RasGas Company Limited, Qatar.
